Tasty News

Handsome Harry’s Third Street Bistro made the headlines recently big time. The restaurant’s landlord, Neapolitan Enterprises LLC, wants Handsome Harry’s out. According to news reports, it revolves around changes in Harry’s ownership. This is happening at an unexpected time, since Third Street South’s restaurants—Handsome Harry’s, Sea Salt, Campiello and Tommy Bahama—have been bringing business back to the area. I have a feeling we have not heard the end of this story.

Now—on to NEW restaurants!! We knew about Seasons 52, being built next to Mercato, and almost finished! I cannot wait for this one to open in October because the menu offers something for everyone—including vegans like me. I checked out its robust website—this restaurant has garnered rave reviews from its locations in other parts of the country, and promises to be a wonderful addition to Naples. See what I mean?    Agave Southwestern Grill will open September 14 on Vanderbilt Beach Road in a building formerly occupied by Uno Chicago Grill. Agave, created by the owners of Angelina’s Ristorante in Bonita Springs, promises to be a step or two up from what we generally expect in Southwestern cuisine, including the largest tequila selection in Southwest Florida—164 to date. Guacamole will be made tableside to order, all tamales and tortillas will be made in-house, plus house-smoked meats—and on and on. Hours will be daily from 11:30 a.m. to midnight. Happy Hour will be 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. daily, with food and drink specials. Wow—this restaurant will be a treat!!

Other notables opening include Dragon Garden—a Chinese restaurant in the Marketplace at Pelican Bay, and Margarita’s Authentic Mexican Cuisine, which will open next to Anthony’s women’s clothing store in the Pavilion behind Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. Margarita’s is also located on Marco Island, and now the owners will try their luck in Naples.

Finally—at least for this week—is a brand-new French restaurant that will be opening in November in North Naples in the space formerly occupied by Heidelberg and Mr. G’s. The restaurant will be called L’etoile (French for “The Star”) and will be owned by Marc-Jean and Trish Berruet, who also own a restaurant in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, called The Pearl. L’etoile will join Côte d’Azur and Escargot 41 in offering classic French cuisine in North Naples.

This upcoming season is going to be so exciting! But all this restaurant news has made me hungry. Cheers!
