Paradise Coast native Jamie Magnus has an undeniable allure. She’s sweet, soft-spoken and beautiful (but doesn’t act like she knows it). Magnus also has an interesting story: She’s a model and a rocket scientist. Talk about opposites attracting. Since her days at Community School of Naples, she has posed for various magazines and fashion campaigns, and continues to do so for fun. Her day job, though, is equally if not more enthralling—to analyze flight data for Dream Chaser, a spacecraft being tested this year that is part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program carrying astronauts to the International Space Station. Living now in Colorado, Magnus finds any excuse to visit Collier County to spend time with family and friends, and enjoy the community she grew up in.
What can’t you leave home without?
My favorite necklace—it is a simple gold chain with the diamond from my grandmother’s engagement ring. I’m wearing it now.

Hobbies: I was fortunate enough to get my pilot’s license at Naples Municipal Airport when I was 17 years old, and I love to be up in the air.
Sweetest part of success: Waking up every morning knowing that I am doing what I have always wanted to do and having the job of my dreams. My grandpa always told me that when you love what you do, you never truly work a day in your life.
What do you most miss about Naples when you’re not here?
My family! Naples will always be home.
Favorite place in town: Waterside Shops. I think I would like to be a fashion designer in my next life.
How does it feel to be a “leading lady”?
I am so very honored and humbled. I have worked really hard to get to where I am in my career, but never expected to be recognized for it. My only hope is that someday I can fully live up to it and inspire the next generation to aim high.
