The entrepreneurial bug bit Brien Spina early. The Massachusetts native started his first business at 13, selling toy airplanes outside FAO Schwartz in Boston. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree, as his parents were small business owners themselves and encouraged his business interests. After graduating from college, Spina moved to Marco Island to be near his family, and at 21 launched his own charter fishing business, Satisfaction Guaranteed, growing his fleet to 10 boats. Spina opened a small New England–style seafood restaurant, Capt. Brien’s Seafood & Roast Beef, on Marco Island. He moved to a larger space where he added the Off The Hook Comedy Club, which has since moved to Naples with restaurant ROW by Captain Brien & Crew. Now 39, Spina continues to dream big. This summer he cut the ribbon on the SWFL Performing Arts Center in Bonita Springs, a sprawling venue he co-owns with his father, Santo. The center hosts Off-Broadway and musical productions, comedy shows, conventions, and private events. Along with his family, he founded the not-for-profit Southwest Florida Performing Arts & Cultural Learning Center to provide arts and culture to underprivileged children in the community through after-school programs.

How he spends a free day: With my wife, Tracy, and four children, Breana, Will, Andrew, and Cameron. Whether we’re at the movies, riding bikes, family barbecues, or just relaxing together, spending time with them takes away all the daily stress.
