St. Patrick’s Day Festivities
Call on the luck of the Irish and dress up in your favorite shade of green for St. Patrick’s-themed events taking place throughout the month. Round up the kids and arrive early March 11 for the forty-first annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which takes place on Fifth Avenue South in Naples. The parade begins at 11 a.m., attracting an estimated 40,000 people who come to celebrate Irish heritage and culture in America.
Prefer an evening celebration? On March 11, from 5:30 to 11:00 p.m., the Freedom Waters Foundation will host The Kind Mariners Ball, “An Evening on the Emerald Isle.” The soiree will feature a buoyant cocktail reception and a keynote address by WINK News anchor Lois Thome.
Athletic types or weekend warriors won’t want to miss Gulf Coast Runners’ St. Patrick’s Day Fun Run, where participants are encouraged to don green attire or even a leprechaun costume. After the race, the winner of the best costume will receive a growler from Riptide Brewery.
In Bonita Springs, spend the evening of March 17 at Southwest Florida Performing Arts Center’s St. Paddy’s Dinner Festival. The event will include Irish-inspired dishes, from corned beef and cabbage to shepherd’s pie, as well as entertainment from traditional Irish dancers. Vertigo, the U2 Tribute band, will be the headline act.
