Opulently elegant yet casually comfortable, The Breakers delivers a romantic and relaxed setting that is perfect for a rendezvous for two. There’s the pristine stretch of sandy beach on the Atlantic Ocean, fabulous dining and wines, a warm, expertly trained staff, world-class spa treatments, the Beach Club, five pools and numerous sports and activities.

The Mediterranean architecture and lush landscaping evoke the Villa Medici in Rome. From the lobby’s ornately painted high ceilings, plush carpets and grand chandelier, to the magnificent, long halls of the north and south wings, the building is rich and elegant.

Yet when you enter the tranquil ocean-view suite, you’re submerged in the laid-back atmosphere of a charming beach cottage. Sliding glass doors open to the azure panorama of the mighty Atlantic, and the sea casts a spell with the rhythmic sound of waves meeting shoreline. Add some shimmering gold moonlight on the water, and you’re ready for romance.

The many activities create plenty of opportunity for lovebirds to bond. Take the guided bike tour of Palm Beach, which tells the island’s story. And snorkeling is primo; the resort’s reef just offshore teems with parrotfish, young barracudas, puffer fish, and playful manta rays.

Be sure to reserve one of the private Beach Bungalows by the relaxation pool for the day. Soft music wafts on the breeze, adding to the calm aura. The mini beach house features teak furniture, a small patio, mini fridge, a flat-screen television, private bathroom, and an open-roofed shower with five wall-mounted jets to vigorously spray away sand and salt. A pool concierge brings drinks, lunch and towels, makes reservations for dinner or activities, and nearly anything else one desires. It’s even possible to have massages for two—with the ocean as background scenery—delivered to the bungalow. It’s so relaxing you might not want to leave—ever.
