Angelina Spencer, 2015 Leading Lady

Angelina M. Spencer

President of Empowerment Enterprises Ltd.

When it comes to resilience, Angelina Spencer has it in spades. Growing up in Ohio, she was a foster child and later had four children of her own, raising them as a single parent. At times it felt hopeless and devastating, she says, but she was determined to turn her life around for herself and her children.
“I am not ashamed of my past, it has made me the person I am today,” she says. “With the aid of other people, as well as my own grit and determination, it shows how far we can come.”
Spencer went on to graduate as valedictorian from George Washington University, built a successful company around her passions, and has never forgotten her roots. She broadly gives back to the Naples community that she has called home for the last 12 years. She has focused on helping young women, many who are facing challenges similar to ones she had to navigate as a child. Spencer is vice chair of PACE Center for Girls, Collier at Immokalee, which she financially supports and where she serves as a tutor and mentor.
In business, Spencer’s firm focuses on political management, public policy and research analytics to support campaigns and causes. It includes work with local and federal law enforcement, as well as lawmakers, to combat human trafficking. Considering her accomplishments, Spencer has a serious persona, yet she also has a lighter side, noting that her style essentials include great shoes, laugh lines and a real smile.Angelina M. No place like home: I have never felt more at home in any other environment than in Naples. The people of Naples are my family. It is the biggest little town I’ve ever lived in, in terms of heart.
