Off and Running: Naples’ Spring Races
Southwest Florida is hitting the pavement this spring with a number of races along the Paradise Coast.
On April 15, the Gulf Coast Runners and the David Lawrence Center for Young Executives will hit the sands of Lowdermilk Park for the third annual Beach Bum 5K run/walk. In a departure from past races, this year the Beach Bum 5K will take place in the evening, beginning at 6:30 p.m. (packet pick-up at 5:30 p.m.). The race begins and ends on the sandy shores of the Gulf. Following the race, an award ceremony will be held at 7:50 p.m., set against sunset, complete with food and refreshments, and a beach yoga class led by Green Monkey Yoga.
Proceeds from race registration fees will benefit the David Lawrence Center’s programs, and the Gulf Coast Runners Youth Development Fund.
Registration fees cost: $20 for adults, $10 for kids through April 14; $25 and $15 respectively on the day of the race. For more information, click here.
On Saturday, April 30, Wellfit Girls is teaming up with Green Monkey Yoga and Gulf Coast Runners for the inaugural Wellfit Girls to(tu) Peru 5K. The race will begin at Green Monkey Yoga at 7:30 a.m., and will weave through the Pine Ridge neighborhood before returning to the yoga studio. Following the race, runners are encouraged to give their Saturday a boost of fitness with Debi Grilo’s Power Vinyasa Yoga class at 9 a.m.
All proceeds from this inaugural race will benefit Wellfit Girls, a five-month long leadership, fitness, and empowerment program for teen girls that will culminate with an expedition and cultural exchange to Peru in June 2016.
Registration fees are as follows: $25 for the 5K; $10 for the one-mile run/walk; $20 for the Power Vinyasa Yoga class; $40 for the 5K and yoga class—5K prices will increase day of race.

Hit the streets of Olde Naples on May 1 for the Tropicool 5K. Presented by the Gulf Coast Runners, the race begins on Broad Street, makes a left onto Gordon Drive, and then weaves through to 4th Street before circling back to Broad, a route runners will make twice.
The race begins at 7:30 a.m. on May 1, with packet pick-up available on April 30 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Naples on the Run, or on site the day of the race at 6:30 a.m. Registration costs $20 for adults, $12 for students through April 30; $25 and $15 respectively the day of the race. Celebrate Memorial Day with some run fun at North Collier Regional Park. The Gulf Coast Runners’ Memorial Day 5K will wind through the park’s pathways. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Special Olympics.
The race begins at 7:30 a.m. on May 30, with packet pick-up available on May 28 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Naples on the Run, or on site the day of the race at 6:30 a.m. Registration costs $18 before May 18, $23 from May 18-29, and $25 the day of the race; students cost $12 before May 29, $15 the day of the race.
