Wines have their own character, just like the people who sip them. Celebrate yours and uncork a bottle that harmonizes with your personality. To find ideal matches for four different types, we turned to Dinah Leach, a Certified Sommelier by the Court of Master Sommeliers and wine director at Angelina’s Ristorante, Bonita Springs. Leach perused the choices housed in the restaurant’s 4,000-bottle wine tower to find perfect pairings.

The Classic: These are elegant ladies and gentlemen who prefer timeless style in all things. Your closet is filled with Oscar de la Renta, Armani, and Dior, while your ride of choice is a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL.

Philippe-Gonet-Brut-Signature-Champagne

Wine: “What else other than Champagne?” Leach says. Her choice is Philippe Gonet Brut Signature, which features a fine-textured effervescence and goes well with shellfish. It is “rich, elegant, and sophisticated. A timeless classic!”

The Romantic: Your favorite books are by the Brontës, you’ve watched Casablanca dozens of times, and your favorite bouquet is two dozen long-stemmed red roses.

Drouhin_Volnay

Wine: Joseph Drouhin Volnay, a Pinot Noir from Burgundy. “This wine is elegant and sophisticated, to be sipped while lying on your fainting couch,” says Leach. With notes of candied fruit and spices, and its French pedigree, nothing could be more romantic.

The Modern Hippie: Down-to-earth, nature-loving, life is a Bohemian rhapsody, from your Isabel Marant print dress to your piles of Tamara Comolli gemstone-bead bracelets and Joie crochet sandals.

Wine: Sokol Blosser Evolution from the Willamette Valley, an easy-drinking yet complex white. “It’s an eclectic blend of nine different varietals grown organically,” Leach says, “for the earthy-crunchy type. Pairs well with granola,” she quips. It’s also great with spicy tuna roll or Thai curry, and by the poolside on a hot day, notes the winemaker.

The Thrill Seeker: You love skydiving, hang gliding, and mountain climbing; your dream vacation could be a trek to ancient ruins in Ethiopia or coming face to face with a wild animal on a hike in Zambia.

Hess_Allomi

Wine: Hess Collection Allomi, Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Grown on the steep slopes of Mount Veeder, Leach says, “this is big, rich, and round—perfect for re-energizing after a long day’s hike or kayaking. Also, the wine is straightforward and bold, just like the adventurer.”
