A new pearl from Rolls-Royce

Sorry. No way. Not possible. No-can-do. In Your Dreams.

These are just a few of the words you’ll never hear uttered within the hallowed halls of the Rolls-Royce Motorcars Bespoke Division in Merrie Olde England.

Paint my Phantom pink? No problem madam. Ostrich skin for my custom-fit matching luggage? Ready by Tuesday sir. Zebra-striped baby seat? It’ll look wonderful Ms. Kardashian.

The latest creation from the R-R Bespoke Division is an aquatic-themed masterpiece for a client in Abu Dhabi, called The Ghawwass Phantom Coupé.

Ghaww what? Seems it’s the Arabic word for ‘diver’ and this massive two-door supposedly celebrates the traditional method of collecting pearls from the Bahrain pearl bank.

Perhaps the most striking element of the car is its breathtaking ‘Turchese’ paint with its color inspired by the greeny-blue waters of the Arabian Gulf.

Open one of the Phantom Coupé’s huge, rear-hinged coach doors and you’ll see that turchese color matched in the leather for the seat inserts and headrests. It’s also stained in the wood veneers for the door armrests and center console.

Sticking with that nautical theme, there’s a sailing boat motif  – it’s actually a Dhow, the traditional lateen-rigged sailboat used in the Indian Ocean – that’s embroidered into the headrests. American investment bankers may prefer it with the logo for the Dow-Jones.

As for the ‘pearl’ part of the theme, the entire headliner for the roof is decorated with shimmery pearl-like speckles. No word as to whether those speckles are in fact the real thing.

In typical Rolls-Royce “we don’t discuss pricing, sir” discretion, there’s no word on how much the Ghawwass Phantom Coupé cost its new owner.

But with the standard car selling for a cool $429,295, I’m guessing you just might double that figure.

For most Rolls-Royce buyers however, exclusivity and uniqueness are simply priceless.
