Willow Gallery

Brought to the Paradise Coast by the Palm Beach Show Group, widely recognized as the nation’s leading producer of premier jewelry, art and antique shows with events held in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Palm Beach to name but a few, 2015 marks the fourth year stop in Naples—Southwest Florida’s only show. With artifacts, art, antiques and jewelry that span thousands of years of history, the coveted collections on display at the Naples Exhibition Center aims to attract thousands of art and history savvy visitors and collectors.

All of the exhibitors are bringing something different and exciting to show, making this one of the most anticipated events for the area’s serious collectors. Though each exhibitor is deserving of a mention, room simply will not accommodate, so here are some of our highlights among this amazing array of masterpieces:

London-based Willow Gallery specializes in nineteenth and twentieth century Impressionist and European paintings, and is the authority when it comes to nineteenth British art, as seen with John Atkinson Grimshaw’s painting The Pool and London Bridge at Night (above). When Grimshaw painted this scene, the London Bridge was a mere 50 years old, and effectively created a barrier preventing tall ships from heading further upriver, consolidating port activity on the Thames. The overall aesthetic of the painting and the scene it pictures imbues the Romantic undertones of the era.

Masterpiece Tramp Art Radio Cabinet, Ohio circa 1930s.

The name says it all. The New York-based Antediluvian Antiques and Curiosities’ collection of antiques, from folk art to Victorian taxidermy, is truly fun and, well, curious (for the record, antediluvian means ridiculously old-fashioned, in a good way). Case in point, the beautifully crafted Tramp Art Radio Cabinet. A true masterpiece, this dates back to the 1930s when people would sit and “watch” the radio. With this is mind, this scratch-built cabinet is a functional work of art.

For those that gravitate to Art Nouveau and Art Deco glass and lamps, than a stop at Philip Chasen Antiques’ exhibition space is a must. With authentic lamps by Louis Comfort Tiffany, Handel and Pairpoint, and art glass by Quezal, Steuben, Durand, Daum Nancy, Emile Gallé, Thomas Webb and Loetz, to name but a few, the collection is staggering and quite exquisite.
