Still rushing around searching for that perfect Christmas gift? I have a suggestion. How about the stunning new Breitling for Bentley Ice Speed Record Watch. It’s free.
Only 100 of these magnificent Swiss-made chronographs are being offered to commemorate the 205mph world speed record – on ice – set earlier this year in a Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible.
As for the ‘free’ part – I thought you might ask – all you need to do is hand over the $314,900 being asked for one of the 100 limited-edition Continental GTC Supersport ISR models and the watch comes free. Buy a car, get a watch.
But for watch aficionados, it might just be worth making the financial outlay. The watch features a whopping 49 millimeter case made of lightweight titanium and featuring a carbon-fiber-weave dial with “look-at-this-on-my-wrist” bright red and black coloring. Even the box is a piece of art and made of carbon fiber. On the back there’s special engraving.
Of course, as well as the watch you get the fabulous Continental GTC Supersports Convertible ISR (short for Ice Speed Record) with its 6-liter twin-turbocharged W12 engine producing a massive 631 horsepower. Think 0-to-60mph sprinting in a mere 3.8 seconds.
And as all Continentals have all-wheel drive, the car will remain extremely stable on ice, even at 205.48mph – as Bentley proved during its record-breaking ice lake run in Finland. So, when Hell Freezes Over and Florida is engulfed in the frosty stuff, you’ll have zero problem crossing Lake Okeechobee in a hurry.
But if $314,900 is a little steep in these days of financial turmoil, might I suggest negotiating with your local Bentley retailer for a slight discount. After all, the 100 limited-edition Continental Supersports ISRs are, in fact 2011 models, and not based on the latest 2012 GTC out early next year.
Be quick, time is ticking.
