Kristen Coury is the CEO and producing artistic director of Gulfshore Playhouse. She founded the Playhouse in 2004, after moving to Naples from New York City. While in New York, she worked behind the scenes on several Broadway shows working for Disney Theatrical and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Under Coury’s leadership, the Playhouse has grown to a staff of 75 with an annual budget of $11.6 million with no debt. Coury also led the charge to create a $72 million state-of-the-art theater and education center at the gateway to downtown Naples and brokered one of the largest public/private partnerships in the city, resulting in a rezoned district and a city-built parking garage for the public.
Coury was recently appointed to Florida Council for Arts and Culture by Senate President Kathleen Passidomo. She is a member of the board of the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce and served two terms on the board of Theatre Communications Group, the national advocacy group for professional theatres. Coury was named one of the Top 100 Most Influential Business Leaders in Collier County in 2022 and 2023. She was also named Men and Women of the Year in both 2013 and 2024. In 2023, Coury received the Murray Hendel Civic Achievement Award.
