French Holiday: Bastille Day Celebrations in Naples

Vive le 14 juillet! La fête nationale, known as Bastille Day in English, commemorates French independence and the taking of the Bastille, the prison that became a symbol of monarchic oppression, in 1789. Unlike the French, we won’t be thrilling to the spectacle of the military parade that’s synonymous with the holiday, but we can still celebrate with some French wine and cuisine.
