Just in time for Christmas, Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol takes the stage at the Norris Center in Cambier Park on December 6-22, continuing the Gulfshore Playhouse’s tenth season celebration. Though for this production, the professional theater troupe is putting a twist on a holiday favorite, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
In Dickens’ classic novella A Christmas Carol, Jacob Marley appears only as a ghost shackled in chains, warning poor old Ebenezer Scrooge that his wayward ways have him on a path for an eternity of unrest. In Tom Mula’s comedy Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol, we see the behind-the-scenes machinations of Marley as he tries to save Scrooge’s soul from a similar fate. The play, immersed in fairytale, Dickens’s British sensibility and a dash of contemporary wit is a great addition to holiday festivities.
