Jet-Setters’ Musts

In this fun series, we ask chic travelers what they could never leave home without. Today’s featured jet-setter hails from aristocratic roots in Spain, and is revered for her entertaining style. Her cookbooks certainly have a prominent place in my kitchen!

Glorious Madrid …

Who: Victoria Amory, author, Delicious Flavors; food and style blogger, victoriaamory.com victoria amory

Lives in: Greenwich, CT; Palm Beach; Southampton

Travels to: Madrid and Seville in Spain, Istanbul and Bodrum in Turkey, with stops through London or Paris. I also love the Bahamas; Harbour Island and Lyford Key are great family escapes. Last year, we went to Egypt—Luxor and Aswam, sailed on the Nile and rode horses in the desert.

Essential travel gear: Hermès shawls to wear on planes and in the evenings in various colors…black, ivory and a beautiful pale blue/lavander that goes with everything; iPad filled with books, magazines and the travel guides of the country I am visiting; I use a T. Anthony bag as carry-on that has long handles I can put over my shoulder and always have one or two of those foldable nylon bags for extra shopping.

Cannot leave home without:

  • iPhone!
  • White and black long-sleeved T-shirts from J.Crew,  perfect for day and evening, paired with khaki, white, black and blue jeans. A light black and white silk evening coat.
  • Pale blue suede Tods driving moccasins, perfect for walking around and sightseeing without having to wear sneakers. A great brown belt that I can wear over the long T-shirt to dress it all up.
