Krista Fogelsong
News Anchor, NBC2
When Krista Fogelsong initially arrived in Southwest Florida, she knew she had found a place she loved. But it wasn’t until an opportunity to be closer to family up north pulled her away from an anchor post at FOX 4 (a position where Fogelsong earned the respect and trust of both Collier and Lee County residents) that she realized the Paradise Coast was indeed her home. Last year marked her return, and she couldn’t be happier. She’s now at the morning desk for NBC2 News Today, and the former night owl is grateful every minute—even waking up at 3 a.m. to host her first broadcast at 5 a.m.—and her fans are grateful, too.
Name a woman who inspires you:
My mom. She is selfless, always helping others and a great listener.
Sweetest part of success: Being able to use my local celebrity status to help charities. I love giving back and meeting the friendly people here. I volunteer for groups including the David Lawrence Center, Bosom Buddies, Humane Society, Animal Refuge Center, American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, MDA and Multiple Sclerosis Society, to name a few.
Describe your personal style in three words: Fun, flashy and fearless.
Beauty Essentials: MAC Blot Powder and Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine Super Spray (because it works and smells good).
Guilty Pleasure: White cake with white frosting, preferably wedding cake.
Hobbies: I like to think of myself as a competitive sheller. My husband, friends, family and I will go out at the crack of dawn if it’s low tide to find good shells. We all compete to find the “shell of the day.”
Describe Your Perfect Naples Weekend: Lunch on Third Street South, a bike ride through Port Royal, dinner on Fifth Avenue South and then spending the rest of the time at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, enjoying the beautiful white sand and luxurious accommodations.
What would people be surprised by about you?
I got to sing the Ronnie Spector part of “Take Me Home Tonight” with Eddie Money at a concert in 2007 in North Fort Myers.
Motto: From Abraham Lincoln: “Live a good life, and in the end, it’s not the years in the life, it’s the life in the years.”
