There is just something about the summer and a great movie. The Naples International Film Festival (NIFF) gets the allure. Though a standard of November, the cinephiles behind Southwest Florida’s best film spotlight brought their love for the silver screen over the summer with the Film Society Summer Series, screening four career-defining films at Silverspot Cinema in Mercato..
Wednesday, September 9 marks the final screening of the summer film series, featuring The Godfather at 6:30 p.m. Considered by many to be a masterpiece, The Godfather, based on the Mario Puzo novel of the same name, brought together a compendium of A-List actors to tell the story of the Corleone crime family. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, The Godfather spurred a generation of mob movies, but none are as great as this (except maybe The Godfather II). See why you should never take sides against the family.
Before each screening, the audience will be presented with information about the films, with informal discussions slated for after the final credit roll, allowing film lovers the chance to delve deeper into the film’s themes and influence it has had in the industry.
- Doors open at 6, screening at 6:30 p.m. Admission costs $16. For more information, visit naplesfilmfest.com/niff-film-society.
