The fish taco has become the new hamburger: Nary a casual (and sometimes fancy) restaurant is without one on its menu. It usually consists of fried fish, cabbage and some sort of salsa. Certain restaurants get creative with their fish tacos, and Tacos & Tequila (239-732-8226) is one. First of all, you get your choice of mahi-mahi beer battered in Shiner Bock beer or simply and more healthfully grilled. The cabbage gets a flavor injection from jalapeños, cilantro and slaw dressing. The crowning touch: a tasty avocado crema. Wash it down with a T & T Rita—the house margarita blended with El Mayor Blanco tequila and Cointreau.
The Local, too, adds creative twists to its rendition of the fish taco. It blackens the fish and adds refried beans, pico de gallo and crema inside the soft shell. (thelocalnaples.com, 239-596-3276)
