Naples Illustrated's Dining Awards - Best Gelato - Artisan Gelato from Norman Love Confections

Norman Love (239-687-7215) has become the sweetest name in Naples since he expanded his Fort Myers base operations to a North Naples storefront. His most recent opening, a Miromar Outlet Salon in Estero, makes his fourth location. A former pastry chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, Love went on to become the corporate executive pastry chef for the luxury hotel chain. He opened his confections operation in 2001, and immediately won acclaim and awards, so he expanded to include artisan gelato. Love brought in a second-generation gelato machine from the Bologna region of Italy and imported all the ingredients from Italy so he could make the most authentic artisan gelato possible. He creates it as gelato should be created—to be enjoyed the same day it is made and in bold year-round and seasonal flavors such as mango, pumpkin and cinammon apple with streusel.
