A Naples resident since moving from New England in 2002 with her husband, Adam, Yvonne Bourk, 37, joined the leadership committee for PACE Center for Girls Collier when the organization was looking to host its inaugural Love That Dress! event. Bourk, a wealth advisor and vice president with BB&T Wealth, says she was attracted to the energy and mission of PACE, which focuses on the unique potential of girls and young women, and seeks to provide each an opportunity to find her voice and achieve her potential.
“How can you not want to be involved with such a great cause!” Bourk says. The mother of two (Chloe, 6, and Levi, 4) continues to work on behalf of PACE and others.
“Aha” moment: It was participating in Love That Dress! for PACE Center for Girls. To observe the dialogue between a professional woman and a PACE girl is truly inspiring. You may get involved with the idea that you are going to change a young girl’s life, but the life you change may very well be your own.
Wisdom to share with young people: Create a vision based on your specific gifts, talents and tools. Find a cause you are passionate about and truly understand how you would like to be utilized. Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.
Words to live by: “Begin with the end in mind.” This omits the noise and distractions of a set goal and can be applied to many facets of life.
Latest initiatives:
