The thirty-eighth annual Great Dock Canoe Race is poised to paddle off May 10 in the waters surrounding Crayton Cove. This popular event entices local residents and visitors to celebrate on land, dock and bay. One of the perennial crowd favorites is a parade and contest of canoes decorated according to the theme, which this year is “Zombies in Paradise.” The various races are based on skill level, with winners recognized at an awards ceremony. While it is a fun day on the water, it also helps the community. Proceeds from the entry fees will benefit Drug Free Collier.
