Gary Bigham, 2013 Super Man

The Cleveland native worked his way through college at Kent State University, where he met his wife of 25 years, Kathy. They fell in love with Naples in 1995, and knew it was where they wanted to build a business—a true family jewelry store, owned and operated by a family for families. Bigham quietly devotes time and resources to many charity events and directs the company’s charitable giving to many worthy organizations. Even though he shuns the spotlight for his good deeds, he has been honored by both Champions for Learning (Man of Distinction) and the YMCA (Coach of the Year), and his business was named the “Coolest Store in America” by a retail trade magazine. The free-standing building has more than 8,000 square feet of showrooms with Rolexes and exquisite gems, and he lets nonprofits use the meeting space free of charge.

Naples' Super Men - Gary Bigham - Bigham Jewelers

“My words to live by: Life is a journey, NOT a destination. Enjoy every day.”

“Super” spots in Naples: “For me, it’s the water. Out on a boat or at the Pier are terrific places for relaxing and taking in what Naples is all about.”

Personal style in three words: “Casual, casual, casual.”

His heroes: “My parents. They taught me from an early age the three values that have shaped my life: perseverance, respect of others and kindness. Give kindness, and it will be given back to you.”

What philanthropy means: “An opportunity to change someone’s life forever.”

Achievement he is most proud of: “I have worked with Kathy to build our dream and to raise two children (now in their teens) to embrace the values we have taught.”

Something he can’t live without: Dessert. I am a sweet freak!
