Although Maxwell calls herself a workaholic, she is equally devoted to giving back to her community. She organizes Thanksgiving meals, donates back-to-school backpacks, supports Homes for Heroes, Youth Haven, and collaborates with the Make-A-Wish Foundation annually.
Outside of her busy work life, Maxwell enjoys spending time with her husband, County Commissioner Dan Kowal, and their blended family of six children as well as three grandsons.
