Walk Through History: Naples Historical Society

Explore the historic side of Naples on on a guided walking tour through parts of the Naples Historic District, stretching all the way to the Naples Pier, as Naples Historical Society guides regale walkers with colorful anecdotes about the people and places that made Old Naples.

   The one-mile tour strolls along historic Third Street South where the town’s original movie theater, general store and gas station once operated. Hikers will visit the location where the grand Naples Hotel once stood, while jaunts through the neighborhoods will visit the original homestead sites of notables such as the Briggs, the DuPonts and the city’s founders, the Haldemans. 

Naples Historical Society - Naples Historic Palm Cottage

   Originally known as a “sportsman’s paradise,” attracting fisherman and hunters alike, Naples’ pull as a resort town captivated many famous and important visitors and brought about the nickname, “summerland in wintertime”.

  • The Naples Historic District Walking Tours begin every Wednesday at the Historic Palm Cottage at 9:30 a.m. The tour includes a 30-minute tour of the Historic Palm Cottage, followed by a 90-minute tour through Naples Historic District. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
