This is the most romantic thing I’ve seen in a long time: Las Ventanas, a beyond-fabulous property in Los Cabos, is offering “Sleeping with the Stars” on the rooftop terraces of its suites, for couples who want to sleep en plein air, beneath Baja’s starry skies.
The resort’s new director of romance, Esmeralda Silva, has hatched this idea. A king-size bed decked out in all the luxury linens you’d have indoors is placed on a platform on the roof, so lovers can gaze at the stars and moon, listen to the sighs of the surf, and feel the Pacific breeze on their faces all night long. Of course, all you need is love, but it doesn’t hurt to have a few amenities, either, including a telescope, a wash basin, an alarm clock and a coffeemaker, all of which are placed alongside the bed by the little cupids at Las Ventanas.
Though Silva is new to the position, romantic experiences are nothing new to Las Ventanas. Over the years, the resort has orchestrated marriage proposals by helicopter, a private theater for two on the sand, intimate dinners in secluded coves … whatever your heart’s desire, they can deliver it. Even the suites can be made into lovers’ nests, with rose petals, candlelight and crackling fires, guaranteed to ignite passion in no time.
