The Bold Lip

Our March fashion story “The Bright Stuff” highlights the very trend-on bold brights and punched-up pastels featured throughout the spring/summer collections, a look I happen to love at the moment. This season’s bursts of bold color is carrying through into beauty, which is perfect for those looking for a quick update to their spring look, or perhaps a more subtle way to wear this trend. For an insider’s peek on how to achieve this beauty look of the moment, I’ve ask hair & makeup artist Gina Simone to share her top 3 lipsticks for the ultimate bold pout, and her fail proof guide on how to create the perfect lip for spring/summer.
Gina Simone’s lipsticks of choice
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté lipstick in No.15, Extreme Coral (bright orange)
Armani High Color Cream lip #42 (bright red)
Make Up For Ever Rouge a Levres lipstick #202 (bright pink)
How to guide
1. Start with a neutral lip liner to define the shape of your lips, this will ensure that your bright color stays put and keeps your pout looking a perfect shape.
2. Apply your matte bright lip color with a small lip brush.
3. Keep the rest of makeup light and airy so that your features do not compete.
