On November 1, the Caribbean’s most romantic private isle reopens after a major renovation. I, for one, am thrilled … Petit St. Vincent is one of my favorite hideaways in the world.
The 115-acre, 22-villa property in the Grenadines (off St. Vincent) will offer a host of improvements. Chief among them:
- A new casual beach bar and restaurant serving light lunches, snacks and cocktails, open to both hotel guests and visiting yachtsmen.
- A new hillside spa with four treatment rooms that can open up to the elements and a relaxation deck overlooking the Caribbean
- A new chef team who will bring both Caribbean and international experience to PSV
In addition, all of the cottages will be upgraded to include air-conditioning, better lighting, remodeled bathrooms, new beds and custom-made furniture. The cottages will remain “unconnected” as always, meaning there is no TV, phone and internet. Trust me: you won’t miss it. What if I want a pina colada delivered to my cottage, you say? Simple. Just hoist a little yellow flag up the pole outside your cottage, write your message inside a bamboo stick, and wait. Your pina colada will magically appear within 20 minutes. It is delightfully anachronistic.
But that’s part of the charm of PSV. You feel like a castaway here–and yet you have all the little luxuries you’d expect in an exclusive resort.
The cottages have all been upgraded.
Dining at the dock on the bay …
Cottage with a view. Simply magical.
