Jonathan K. Jay, M.D.

Jonathan K. Jay, M.D., is board-certified in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery and urology. He has been practicing medicine for 23 years and for the past 18 years he has been selected as a top doctor in Naples.

Dr. Jay completed his fellowship training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School in Boston. Throughout his training, he received numerous honors and awards including Outstanding Resident Training
Award and Lansing School District Distinguished Alumni Award.

His areas of interest include urodynamics and bladder dysfuntion as well as urogynecology. He is involved in clinical research, including clinical trials for the minimally invasive correction of bladder control problems. Dr. Jay has significant experience in laparoscopic surgery and in robotic surgery using the da Vinci© surgical system. “The advantage with robotic surgery is it can get into tiny spaces where you can’t get your hand,” he says. “It is minimally invasive surgery, and the surgical field is magnified.”

Helping people is his favorite part of his job. He wants his patients, both men and women, to understand their diagnosis, its genesis, and their options for treatment. “Sometimes I’ll get patients with the same problems who want two different outcomes,” he says. “I define the treatment’s positives and negatives. If it’s not life-threatening, some choose to do nothing−and that’s not a bad thing. It’s about quality of life. That’s why I’m different from other doctors.”

Dr. Jay likens his discussions with patients to Paul Harvey’s famous tagline, “That’s the rest of the story.” Says Dr. Jay: “I get so much wisdom from my patients that they change my life. They make my tomorrows so much better.”
