Rolando Rivera, M.D., a board-certified urologist specializing in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery was among the first surgeons in Southwest Florida to use the da Vinci® surgery robotic surgical system to repair vaginal prolapse. He also offers men and
women suffering from overactive bladder and urinary incontinence InterStim® neuromodulatoin therapy and Botox® injections in the bladder. “We pride ourselves in being state-of-the art, and it is a very broad field. I do enjoy that, he says.
With expertise in all urological diseases and erectile dysfunction, Dr. Rivera also offers
endoscopic procedures, laser procedures, and laparoscopic surgery. Throughout his career, he has written multiple abstracts on a variety of topics for urological meetings and preceptors for students.
Dr. Rivera started his medical career as a general medical doctor in the U.S. Army. Surgical
issues are what first attracted him to medicine, but once in practice, he realized his patients were what he truly enjoyed. “I’ve had longstanding relationships with patients for years since I started practicing in 2006, and in some specialties you don’t have that,” Dr. Rivera says.
Being involved with the community is also important to Dr. Rivera. He is the immediate
past president of the Florida Urological Society and is an active member in the Physician Led Access Network (PLAN), a nonprofit network of health professionals who help provide access to quality health care for low-income and uninsured adult residents in Collier County.
“I’m just a regular guy trying to do what I can for my family, my patients, and my community,” he says.
